Hello, guys! My name is HĂȘnio and I'm gonna talk a little about Indian culture, which is very diverse and rich. It’s a
millenary culture that received, by the pass of the centuries, many Orientals
and Occidentals influences. It represents one of the oldest history
civilizations.
Indian Dance
The most popular dance in India is the Bharathanatyam. It’s a traditional
classic dance, with it the dancers do beautiful and soft moves and poses. Its
lyrics talk about the huge realizations made by mythological gods and heroes.
This dance appeared more than 5 thousand years ago, in the south of India, and
influenced others kinds of dance in many regions of this Country and the Asian
Continent.
Indian Music
The traditional Indian music is a result of the music fusion among many
ethnic and linguistic groups of the region. The lyrics follow an emotive and
descriptive character. One of the most utilized music instruments is the
tambura (stringed instrument).
Indian Philosophy
The indian philosophy is very connected to the religion. The main philosophic
currents are: Buddhism, yoga, Jainism, Tantric, Brahmanism and sankhya.
Religion
The Indian religion is very Strong, because this region is considered one of the old civilizations religious cradle. A great part of Indians are Hinduism follower. But, there are Islamism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and Christianity practitioners too.
Caste System
Although it has been officially abolished, the caste system is still
part of Hindu culture, but it has been modified in its original format. In the
old system, people were divided according to their social position. Groups
(castes) were: Brahmans (religious and noble), Kshatriya (warrior), Vaixias
(farmers and traders), Sudras (slaves) and Pariahs (no castes).
Architecture
In historical architecture the temples stand out (local of the religious
ceremonies). These draw attention to the beauty of the details and wealth in
the decoration. The Taj Mahal, located in Agra, is one of the most known works
of architecture in this country. With Islamic influence, this mausoleum is
considered by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Indian parties
A great part of the Indian festivities is related to religious aspects.
The main festivities are: Holi, Festival of Colours (February to March); Kumbha
Mela (religious festival that happens four times every twelve years); Ganesha
Festival (August and September) and Festival of Lights (Diwali).
